Margot Robbie style file: charting the star's sartorial rise from Neighbours to Hollywood

The Suicide Squad star is firmly cementing her A- list status not only on the big screen, but also on the famous red carpet too. Fastly becoming one of Hollywood’s most popular actresses, it would be forgetful that Aussie Margot Robbie began her career on an Australian TV show Neighbours between 2008 and late 2011, Robbie earned herself 2 Logie Award nominations before packing her bags and moving to the US.

She made her big screen debut in the 2013 Rachel McAdams and Bill Nighty in Richard Curtis’s romantic comedy film titled About Time, before going on to star alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in Martin Scorsese’s biographical drama The Wolf of Wall Street. For me this is one of the best movies of 2013 and Leo deserved an Oscar for the steps scene. She has since landed roles in Suite Française, The Big Short, The legend of Tarzan and the supervillain block buster Suicide Squad.

2017 was a big year for the 27-year-old. She was given the title of one of the top 100 most influential people in the world by Time Magazine, with the addition to star as Dapne de Sélincourt, wife of A.A.Milne in Goodbye Christopher Robin, she also produced her first film, ‘I, Tonya.’Robbie was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of the protagonist, American figure skater Tonya Harding and is also tipped for an Oscar for the role.

This year she is set to co-produce her second film, Dreamland, as well as star as Queen Elizabeth I in an upcoming film, Mary Queen of Scots. And with such many impressive previous and upcoming roles, the inevitable influx of red carpet appearances will give Robbie a chance to showcase her ever-improving style.

Recent stand out red carpet looks include the archival Versace dress she chose for the New York Premiere of Goodbye Christopher Robin in November 2017, and the plunging, off-the-shoulder black satin Louis Vuitton gown she wore to this year's 29th Annual Producers Guild Awards.
